History (General information, founding date of the Chamber )

A Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary Organization of business concerns devoted to promoting, not only members' common interest, but also reflection of business opinion as it relates to members of the Community. Chambers of Commerce and Industry exist throughout the world.  The Chamber movement is dedicated to the strengthening of and supporting private enterprises, and encouraging individual initiative and responsibility.  It also helps the government in building the economy of the nation, and simultaneously helps to protect the private sector against encroachment by government.

In some parts of the world, the Chamber is given the legal authorization to assist in fulfilling tasks, which are normally assigned to public authorities.  This helps the later to concentrate on its natural roles, and also guarantees that business interests are duly taken into account.
